LSRF - We bring surf to cycling

My Saturday morning group ride would always leave the Santa Cruz Harbor at 8 am sharp. The group of 80 cyclists took on East Cliff Drive, where they would pass the house of the Santa Cruz legend, Jack o’Neill. Although it was still quite early, the ocean would be full of people on surf boards.

We would race up Hazel Dell road, and when I say race, I mean race.  When I felt strong, I would tackle Eureka Canyon. After a stop for snacks or sandwiches at Summit Store, I would head back to Santa Cruz. At the end of my ride I cruised on West Cliff Drive, trying to spot dolphins in the ocean. After every training, I would stop for a few minutes at the Santa Cruz Lighthouse, to watch the line-up at Steamers Lane. Then I would head home to Twin Lakes beach after a good day of training.

I will remember those days forever. The sound of the ocean, the salty smell. But especially the light. The foggy Santa Cruz mornings of pastel colors, the full blue skies and the amazing orange sunsets.

I started dreaming. When I would be retired and released from the burden to wear the same team kit day in and day out, I would create something of my own. Cycling clothes that would reflect the colors of Santa Cruz and the laid-back attitude of this place.

One year after retirement we made it happen. Hereby I present you LSRF. The brand that brings surf to cycling.
